DJXPERIENCE: Youth Talent at DJX - A Firsthand Account by DJ Reese Rocks

DJ Reese Rocks with Laidback Luke during DJX ‘24.

With initiatives like nXt@DJX, DJX sets out to continue its focus on youth and emerging talent. Here’s a first-hand account from Gabriel Reese (DJ Reese Rocks) and Jim Reese.

As told by Gabriel Reece aka DJ Reece Rocks:

This year's DJX Show was an awesome experience! My dad encouraged me to get involved with The #UPnXtDJ contest, sponsored by BASSBOSS and Kidz DJ Cafe. It was my first real DJ competition and I managed to finish 6th in the final tally. This granted me a chance to Spin on the BASSBOSS DJ stage and show case my DJ skills at DJX ‘24!

This experience alone was incredible and made the trip worth every sacrifice, but then there was more! Reloop DJ had their booth set up beautifully, and I spent time looking at all of their awesome DJ gear! But wait… we are still not done! Pioneer DJ/AlphaTheta had all of their gear and the OCTAGON! The octagon was really awesome because I had the opportunity to spin with some of the best DJs in the world. It was an amazing honor and absolutely more fun than I could have ever imagined! But this was still not all…

I was able to hang out with some of the legends in the business like Laidback Luke, DJ Mell Starr, DJ K-Sprinkles, DJ Caitlin, DJ Eliza May, and DJ Stress TV. I was able to network with Jet Pack Bags, 12inch Skinz, Music City DJ Record Pool, Jesse Dean, and many more. Add all of this up and this was the experience of a lifetime!
